WIPW- Hermione’s Everyday Socks

Hello everybody… Today is a very special day. Today is the day where I discovered that my socks, will in fact, FIT! I got to the gusset on both socks, decreased the first, and started on the second. I tried #1 on… and it fits just fine! It did not slip off or get slouchy. I still do not like the bleeding of the yarn, but I can handle it, knowing that they will fit the recipient!

IMG_0808I really don’t like posting pictures of my progress where one sock is not at the same section as the other, but this will have to do for now. I can’t get anymore knitting done until tomorrow morning on the bus and then during class.

Tomorrow is also a very VERY important day. It is my mom’s birthday, and it is the first year where I actually made her something, instead of begging my dad for money and I am excited for what she will think of it. I made her the beautiful Lonely Tree Shawl.

When these socks are over, I have no idea what to knit next…

My options are,

another pair of some cloudy day leg warmers in knit picks palette in Salsa Heather

Artichoke Socks in another knit picks sock yarn

or another beautiful but slightly simple shawl by Silvia Bo Bilvia in, you guessed it, another knit picks yarn, this time in a gorgeous yellow color.

Let me know in the comments below what you think.

Until next time…

So the crappy yarn diagnosis has proven to be true.IMG_0761

The socks that I am trying  to make with this are disappointing me. I chose the pattern, Hermione’s Everyday Socks, and I started knitting them yesterday, finishing the cuffs at the beach. I really like the zig-zag pooling that happened, and when I finished the leg, it looked like it was almost self-striping, which I dig, but then I kept knitting. You know when you can tell something is wrong, but you give it the benefit of the doubt? boy did I do that..

But alas, I kept on knitting, thinking everything IMG_0780would be alright. See, the problem is, that they’re coming out too big. Now, I am a small girl, and the girl who I am knitting these for is a relatively small girl as well. I am hoping that her ankles + lower thighs are bigger than mine, because if they’re not, well, F**k!!! One more REALLY bad thing that I can say about this yarn is… it bleeds…  Will my left hand thumb ever be its pink color again, or will it remain blue forever?

IMG_0758As for finished projects, I cast off and blocked my mom’s birthday shawl and it came out spectacular. I didn’t get any good pictures, but I did get a before and after, Which you can find on my ravelry page here, before I wrapped everything up and put it in a gift bag.

I just  really love this shawl. it was so much fun knitting it, even though I made a few mistakes. when it came off the needles, I wasn’t surprised by how tiny it looked, but in the back of my head I did expect something a little bigger. When I blocked it , I  stretched it out to its maximum capacity, but I still didn’t get the length I wanted. The shawl is just long enough where she can wrap it around her neck as a sort of infinity scarf. I would definitely knit this again and recommend this pattern to anyone who is starting out with shawls and chart reading.

After the beach yesterday, my mom and I went to Home DepotIMG_0768so I can finally start my very own vegetable garden.I wanted to start off small, get a plant to fertilize the soil, then put another plant in its place that will bring back the nutrients that were stripped etc. I bought this little patio tomato seedling, it was so cute and I was very excited. Also bought some new red mulch because the old one got faded and painted white from the bathroom remodeling, as the tile guy situated himself right next to that area 😦

I can’t wait till it starts growing, I am sucha proud tomato mommy:)!!

Crappy yarn equals crappy knitting?

Hawthorne Fingering in Happy Valley

You see this yarn? It is a freaking beautiful color, and soft as heck too. The really bad thing about it is that it took multiple hours to unravel it and make two balls out of it. That is not an exageration, I watched a whole movie and Lost episodes, I got to a whole other freaking season just taking the yarn barf out of this thing. KnitPicks is beautiful, but sometimes painful to knit with. Hopefully the socks I make out of this won’t make me feel as shitty as the yarn did…

Spring is Among Us <3

For today’s post, I decided to enjoy the second day of spring by knitting, drinking a banana berry smoothie, and writing this blog post.

My mom’s birthday is coming up in 5 days, yikes… As a birthday present I am making her her very first shawl. She is a very fashionable mom, so I want to make her something she would actually wear. The pattern for this very special shawl is The Lonely Tree Shawl by Sylvia Bo Bilvia. It is all a smooshy mess right now, but as soon as I finish the last chart I am on, I am getting this baby blocked, wrapped, and ready to wear for Thursday’s festivities. This is my first shawl ever. In fact, it is my first time ever doing a project that follows a chart, very very exciting.

As for the smoothie, it is a simple recipe that    IMG_0752I shall share with all of y’all.

I ripe banana, sliced

4-5 strawberries, sliced

handful of blueberries, hopefully not needed to be sliced :/

1 cup of milk of your choice

1 cute dog of your choice ( pomeranian recommended)

Stick all these ingredients, except dog, into blender and blend until texture is satisfactory, enjoy!

FO Friday: Snicket Socks

Hello world….

I may or may not have been off the circuit for the last 3 years (LOL!) but now I am back and better than ever! I hope everyone who still follows me notices the BLATANT difference between my thirteen year old self and the beautiful sixteen year old that is typing now. As my writing style has improved, so has my knitting! I may now present you my Snicket Socks!

Processed with VSCOcam with a5 preset

The sock on the top is a disgrace to my family’s name, total disgrace. I finally got the hang of this beautiful pattern on the bottom sock, as you could probably tell. Here is a close up of the better sock,

FO Friday: My Rib Socks

Ok. I have finished my second pair of socks in 2 weeks. I would be already starting my 3rd but my package hasn’t arrived yet. I believe this wonderful pair of socks deserves a picture:

This picture really doesn’t give the socks justice, I still haven’t gotten the hang of photographing my knitted items.

The socks don’t match up together, so instead of twins they are brothers. I had a really fun time knitting this socks. Haha I’m writing this while watching American Dad and it is hilarious!! I hope everybody had a nice friday andddd today was Friday the 13th so I hope ..nobody…killed themselves or something!

Have a Great Weekend!
